Here’s something you might not know About Me

It wasn't until my late twenties when I bought my first computer, a second-hand machine that came with more questions than answers. But that moment marked a turning point.

As the founder of “Future Tech Wise” I’m on a mission to blend the soul of New Zealand with the power of Artificial Intelligence. My vision is clear, use AI to enhance not replace humanity, while staying true to the Kiwi values and culture.

MY JOURNEY INTO SECURITY

A Single Father’s Career

Life doesn’t always follow the path we expect, When I found myself navigating the world as a single Dad, I wasn’t just responsible for raising my daughter I was also building a career in the demanding, fast-paced world of a security guard. When my daughter was about five years old, I made the decision to start a new chapter in my life one that would not only support us financially but also give me a strong sense of purpose.  That’s when I chose to pursue a career in security, I committed myself fully completing all three levels of training, Security Levels 1, 2, and 3.

I began working in Dargaville mostly doing night shifts. For seven years I patrolled the town during the quiet night hours responding to alarm activations and helping to keep the community safe. It wasn’t always easy work but I took pride in showing up consistently knowing I was making a difference behind the scenes in the community. Later on, when my daughter came to live with me full-time, I decided it was time for a move. I relocated to Whangārei so I could continue my security career while being more present for her.

I started out doing security patrols around the Whangarei CBD City, and eventually I was asked to work at the Rose Street Bus Depot a role I’ve held proudly and taken seriously over many many years. Now, nearly 20 years later, I’m still actively involved in security work in other ways,  I’ve gained a lot of experience along the way and I continue to take on personal projects that keep me motivated and connected to my community.

Looking back I’m proud of the journey, What started as a step toward stability for my daughter and me has turned into a lifelong commitment to service one that I carry with pride every day.

A New Zealand Christmas That Changed Everything

It was Christmas 1989 in New Zealand. The whole family had gathered around the dinner table, and for the first time in years, my cousin Paul was back from Australia. Something felt different. Maybe it was the warmth of having everyone together again, or the way the conversation flowed, stories, laughter, comparing lives across the ditch.

As my cousin talked about his laid-back Aussie lifestyle, the sunshine, and the opportunities I found myself unusually quiet. Something about it stirred something in me. Was I too settled? Had I stopped pushing myself?

That night, I looked around the table, feeling both grateful and curious. Maybe it was time to shake things up. Take a risk, Start fresh. A few days later, I just thought, “Bugger it.” And that was that. I decided to move to Australia.

At the time, I’d been working at Telecom NZ  in Whangarei for over seven years. I had a house, a routine, a good life. But I needed a change. So I handed in my notice to my employer and started getting my life sorted.  Read More
